Club Red for Young Professionals

Make it YOUR Red Cross experience

Club Red represents young adult volunteers between the ages of 21 and 40(ish!) who are interested in working to engage our peers in the humanitarian mission of the American Red Cross. We invite you to join us in making a difference in our community.

Young adults have no shortage of talent and energy to give to the Red Cross. Club Red members can provide relief to victims of disaster, organize fundraisers, mentor high school and college volunteers, teach lifesaving training courses and serve on the Board of Directors. And in exchange, the Red Cross experience offers us valuable networking and skill building opportunities, opening doors to new people and leadership positions.

Is Club Red right for me?
If you're looking for an opportunity to experience heart-warming, eye-opening and rewarding situations in the community then Club Red is for you. While offering the chance for networking with young community members, Club Red is truly focused on engaging members in the humanitarian mission of the Red Cross. We are aimed at giving people the opportunity to give back to the community while maintaining a strong network of peers who share similar interests. We are looking for bright, motivated individuals to help pave the path of the future of Club Red.

What does Club Red have to offer me?
Club Red offers the chance for you to give back to the community through getting your hands dirty. While there are monthly meetings, the goal of Club Red is to get out in to the community completing service projects, responding to disasters, assisting at blood drives, pitching in to help at a special event, etc. The activities the club participates in will be determined by member choice and interest and are seemingly endless.

What activities has Club Red participated in thus far?

Kicking off the Club Red activities for the year was a happy hour and mixer on Veteran's Day at the White Rose Bar & Grill, where we simultaneously held a drive for Operation Uplift - a service project aimed at collecting essential items for the troops to be packaged up and sent to those serving our country overseas. Required entry in to the event was one of five items on the collection list. Through this event alone, four cartons of items were collected through donations by the more than 50 people in attendance.
We kept our December gathering less than ordinary. While some business was covered during the hour-long get together, the majority of the time was spent sorting holiday cards for the military, their families and veterans. As part of the annual American Red Cross Holiday Mail for Heroes service project, holiday cards signed by children, teens and adults were sent in from all over the United States to Pitney Bowes, where they were scanned and shipped to Red Cross chapters to be read, sorted and distributed amongst their communities. With assistance from Club Red members, more than 100 cards were delivered to veterans currently living in nursing homes, retirement homes and communities throughout York County.
Club Red has also participated in two of the York County Chamber of Commerce's annual ChamberFuel mixers held in the spring at the Central Market House.

What are some examples of the kinds of project Club Red members would be involved with?
Club Red activities could include:

  • Assisting at blood drives

  • Responding to community disasters as part of the York-Adams Disaster Action Team (DAT)
  • Hosting service project opportunities such as those mentioned above
  • Assisting in the creation and implementation of chapter special events
  • Working booth tables at community fairs

And the list goes on. Because Club Red is in its' formation stages, the door to planning events and activities for the club to participate in is wide open. No matter how large or small the activity, members of Club Red will be impacting the community and changing the lives of those who live, work and play around them.

When is the next Club Red meeting date? Where?
The next Club Red meeting is TBA. Please watch for the meeting date to be announced as we would love for you to join us.
